Ingredients

  • 1.0 pound ground turkey
  • 0.5 cup fresh cranberries, chopped
  • 0.25 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 0.25 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1.0 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1.0 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1.0 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1.0 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4.0 pieces whole grain burger buns
  • None leaves Lettuce leaves
  • None slices Sliced avocado
  • None slices Sliced pepper jack cheese
  • None as desired Cranberry sauce

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped cranberries, breadcrumbs, red onion, parsley, garlic powder, thyme, salt, pepper, and Dijon mustard. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 0.75 inches thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
  • Heat a grill or large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil to the skillet if using.
  • Place the patties on the grill or in the skillet. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 5-6 minutes on the other side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  • If using pepper jack cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to allow the cheese to melt.
  • Toast the whole grain burger buns, if desired. Layer each bottom bun with a lettuce leaf, place the turkey burger patty on top, add a few slices of avocado, and finish with a generous spoonful of cranberry sauce.
  • Cap with the top bun and serve immediately, enjoying the festive flavors that highlight the Thanksgiving spirit!

Notes
