Ingredients

1 pound chicken breast, sliced into bite-sized pieces

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Vegetable oil (for frying)

2 cups cooked and warm mini waffles (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup maple syrup (for drizzling)

1/2 cup coleslaw (optional, for crunch)

Fresh dill or parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken:

    - In a mixing bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Whisk to combine.

      - Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

        Prepare the Coating:

          - In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt, and black pepper.

            Heat the Oil:

              - In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (180°C).

                Fry the Chicken:

                  - Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, coating well.

                    - Carefully place the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil. Fry in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan, for about 4-5 minutes each, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to transfer chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

                      Assemble the Sliders:

                        - Take a mini waffle, layer it with a piece of fried chicken, and top with coleslaw if using. Drizzle a little maple syrup over everything for added sweetness.

                          - Finish off with another waffle on top to create a slider.

                            Serve:

                              - Arrange the sliders on a platter, garnish with fresh dill or parsley, and serve warm. Add extra maple syrup on the side for dipping!
