Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

1 cup buttermilk

1 can (15 oz) chili (with or without beans based on preference)

1 cup shredded lettuce

1/2 cup diced tomatoes

1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)

1/4 cup sour cream

Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Make the Biscuit Dough:

      - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

        - Add the cubed cold butter into the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to combine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

          - Stir in the shredded Cheddar cheese.

            Add Buttermilk:

              - Pour in the buttermilk gradually, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.

                Shape the Biscuits:

                  - Turn the dough out onto a floured surface or lightly floured countertop. Gently knead the dough a few times and then pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.

                    - Cut out biscuits using a round cutter (about 2 inches in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet close together.

                      Bake the Biscuits:

                        - Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on top.

                          Prepare the Sliders:

                            - Once the biscuits are baked, let them cool slightly before slicing them in half horizontally.

                              - Spoon a generous amount of chili on the bottom half of each biscuit.

                                Add Toppings:

                                  - Top the chili with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sliced jalapeños if using. Add a dollop of sour cream on top of each.

                                    Assemble the Sliders:

                                      - Place the top half of the biscuit on each chili-topped biscuit. Optionally, garnish with fresh cilantro.

                                        Serve:

                                          - Serve immediately while warm, and enjoy your delicious Cheddar Chili Biscuit Sliders!
