Ingredients

8 cups day-old brioche or challah bread, torn into pieces

1 cup pecans, roughly chopped

4 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Prepare the Bread: In a large bowl, combine the torn bread and chopped pecans. Toss gently to mix and set aside.

Mix the Custard: In another large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and melted butter until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the custard mixture over the bread and pecans. Press down gently with a spatula to ensure all the bread absorbs the liquid. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the bread mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the top.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the bread pudding to cool for about 10 minutes. Serve warm, drizzled with remaining caramel sauce for extra sweetness.

Enjoy: Optionally, top with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert!
