Ingredients

1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces (about 12 slices)

1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional)

4 ounces creamy goat cheese or ricotta

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Crostini: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet in a single layer. Brush each slice lightly with olive oil. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crisp, flipping them halfway through to ensure even browning. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

Marinate the Strawberries: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, balsamic vinegar, and honey or maple syrup (if using). Toss gently to coat the strawberries in the balsamic mixture. Let them sit for at least 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Assemble the Crostini: Spread a generous layer of goat cheese or ricotta on each toasted baguette slice. Using a slotted spoon, top each slice with the marinated strawberries, allowing some of the balsamic liquid to drizzle over.

Season and Garnish: Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper over the crostini. Finish with fresh basil leaves for an aromatic touch.

Serve: Arrange the crostini on a serving platter and serve immediately as a delightful appetizer or party snack.
