Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

1 large apple (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and thinly sliced

8 ounces of Brie cheese, rind removed and cut into slices

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

1 tablespoon honey (optional, for drizzling)

1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary (optional, for garnish)

Flour (for dusting)

Instructions

Prepare the Puff Pastry: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the sheet of puff pastry to smooth out any creases. Cut the puff pastry into a rectangle about 12x10 inches.

Slice the Apple: In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are well coated and set aside.

Create the Braid: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, make diagonal cuts about 1 inch apart on each side of the puff pastry, leaving the center 4 inches untouched. This will create flaps for the braid.

Layer the Ingredients: In the center of the pastry, layer half of the Brie slices. Top with the sugared apple mixture, and then layer the remaining Brie slices on top of the apples.

Braid the Puff Pastry: Starting from one end, fold the top flap over the filling. Alternate folding the side flaps over the filling diagonally, creating a braided effect. Press the ends together to seal.

Apply Egg Wash: Brush the top and sides of the braid with the beaten egg to give it a golden color when baked.

Bake: Place the braid onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

Drizzle and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. If desired, drizzle honey over the top and sprinkle with chopped fresh rosemary for added flavor. Slice and serve warm.
