Ingredients

For the Fish:

1 lb white fish fillets (tilapia, cod, or snapper)

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup cornmeal

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

Cooking spray

For the Slaw:

2 cups green cabbage, finely shredded

1 cup red cabbage, finely shredded

1 carrot, julienned

1/4 cup chopped cilantro

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon lime juice

1 teaspoon honey

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Tacos:

8 small corn or flour tortillas

Lime wedges, for serving

Hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Fish: In a bowl, soak the fish fillets in buttermilk for about 30 minutes. This helps tenderize the fish and adds flavor.

Prepare the Breading: In a separate bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

Coat the Fish: Remove the fish from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the cornmeal mixture, ensuring a good coat. Place the breaded fish on a plate.

Air Fry the Fish: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Once heated, spray the basket lightly with cooking spray. Place the breaded fish in the basket in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches). Spray the tops of the fish lightly with cooking spray. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.

Make the Slaw: In a large bowl, combine the green cabbage, red cabbage, carrot, and cilantro. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lime juice, honey, salt, and pepper. Pour this dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Warm the Tortillas: While the fish is cooking, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat or in the microwave for a few seconds until pliable.

Assemble the Tacos: Place a piece of crispy fish in each tortilla, top with the zesty slaw, and add a squeeze of lime. Drizzle with hot sauce if desired.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve your air fryer fish tacos with extra lime wedges on the side for squeezing over and enjoy!
